Resurrection’s Tribute to Father Alex
It’s his parish and he’ll do what he wants to.

When you come into church, and it seems strange,
It’s just ’cause Father has made a change.
From three crosses to one and yellow rays from blue,
A tabernacle and windows are all quite new.
Church décor is moved once it’s set,
But thanks to Father a bigger center we did get.
It’s his parish and he’ll do what he wants to.
It’s a good thing he doesn’t have a wife,
’ Cause he’d just create so much strife.
About female foibles Father does quip.
He thinks all they do is gossip.
He says they talk too much and just boss,
But without the parish women, he’d be at a loss.
It’s his parish and he’ll do what he wants to.
Never spend; always save
Will be his motto to the grave.
I don’t want to say Father is cheap,
But into a dumpster for flowers he will leap.
Hanging onto money is something he handles;
For seven years, we haven’t bought candles.
If he learns you have a talent or skill,
Giving time to the church, you will.
It’s his parish and he’ll do what he wants to.
As a pastor he’s quite rare,
At all occasions he shows his care.
Father’s like a pastor from days of old,
When they ordained him, they broke the mold.
No matter the time, when a hospital does call,
Parishioner or not, he visits them all.
It’s his parish and he’ll do what he wants to.
If Father thinks you’re on the wrong path,
You will incur his mighty wrath.
With reverence to church he wants you to come,
But, please, dress well and don’t bring gum.
If you really want to get Father’s goat,
Just wear spaghetti straps without a coat.

When faced with problems with toilets or locks,
Father Alex will be there with his red tool box.
When things in the parish need work or repair,
Why call a professional? Father Alex is there.
Whenever a big job must be done
Father Alex has to get in on the fun.

If you think Father Alex acts a bit odd,
It’s okay; he really just hatched from his pod.
For some, magic may be a dark art,
But Father Alex does his tricks with heart.
Now, if you ever get into a car with him,
You’ll realize you’re risking life and limb.
It’s his parish and he’ll do what he wants to.
With God as his center from night to day,
Father Alex has taught us all to pray.
Father Alex has a strong devotion to Mary,
And into our church, that love he did carry.
His firm beliefs in blessings and prayer
With the whole parish he does share.
It’s his parish and he’ll do what he wants to.
His time and talent he’s willing to share;
Never worry; Father’s always right there.
His devotion to the Church he loves does not waiver,
His multi-lingual talents add so much flavor.
To a mission Church he has given so long,
His passion and energy is still so strong.
We’re his parish and we bid him adieu.
We appreciate his character, always so true.
We’re thankful to you for how much we grew.
Now as you leave us, we’ll try not to be blue.
